Hi Friends, family, and smoother jazzers! The month of July was on fire…musically too. I was honored to perform for The Church of God and Christ’s (COGIC) International convention in front of 100s of religious leaders that traveled from far and wide. My love and appreciation for the power of music started in the church and it’s always wonderful when I get the opportunity to play some gospel jazz. After my performance, I met a bishop who just so happened to also be a music scholar. He said he really enjoyed my performance and educated me on a journal article called “Why Scatting Is Like Speaking In Tongues”. He explained that there are overlapping sounds and culture from the sounds heard in jazz music compared to the idea of speaking in tongues.

August is gearing up to be a prime month to enjoy some smooth groove. I am teaming up with 97.7 OKC’s Smooth Jazz radio to bring “A Night of Smooth R&B, Soul, Blues, and Jazz” this month.
